Equipment Blast Event: What to Grab Before It Ends

The mid month equipment event runs alongside the season chests. Here's what's actually worth claiming, and what most players waste their attacks on.

Quick answer

> Quick answer: Chase the epic equipment you don't own yet. That's the only reward in this event you cannot buy back later. Magic snacks and ore are nice. Missing an epic you'd otherwise grind for months is the expensive miss.

The equipment event runs in the middle of the month, overlapping the season chests. Both feed the same reward pool.

I read the season calendar before writing this, because these events always look bigger than they are. Most of what drops is filler you already have. One slice of it isn't, and that slice is worth planning your week around. Supercell keeps the live event details on the official Clash of Clans page.

What the event actually gives you

The season chests are the delivery mechanism, and the event is one of the ways you open more of them.

Inside, the drop table covers ore of all three types, magic snacks, and epic equipment you do not already own.

There's also a small chance at a challenge contract, which is what unlocks the special challenge level for the month. The chance sits around one in ten.

So the chest is mostly ore with a lottery ticket attached. Judge it on the ore and treat the epic as upside rather than as the plan.

Why the epic equipment slot matters most

Epic equipment is the slowest thing in the game to acquire without paying.

Outside events, an epic usually arrives through the pass, a paid bundle, or a very long grind. Getting one free from a chest skips all of that.

The important detail is that the drop is restricted to equipment you don't own. That's rare and generous. Most drop tables happily hand you your fourth copy of something useless.

So if you're missing epics, this month is worth real effort. If you own them all, the chest becomes an ore delivery and you can relax.

How to actually open more chests

Attacking is the answer, which sounds obvious and isn't.

The season events feed chests through participation. Battle options prompts during attacks, the mid month equipment event, and the clan side of the season all contribute.

That means a week of not logging in costs you far more than a week of bad attacks. Bad attacks still count.

I counted my own attack days against my chest count last season and the correlation was almost perfect. Consistency beat skill by a wide margin, which is not how most players think about events.

Ore is boring and it is the real prize

Nobody gets excited about ore. Everybody runs out of it.

Shiny ore is the common bottleneck at low equipment levels. Glowy and starry ore become the wall once you're pushing your best pieces towards maximum.

Every chest you open is ore you didn't have to farm from attacks, and equipment levels are among the strongest upgrades in the game right now.

So the honest framing is this. The epic is the headline. The ore is the paycheck. Plan around the paycheck and enjoy the headline when it lands.

What to spend the ore on first

Put ore into the equipment you actually bring, not the equipment with the best tier list ranking.

A level advantage on a piece you use every attack beats a shiny new piece you'll trial twice and forget.

If you're unsure which pieces those are, open your last ten attacks and read the loadout. The answer is in your own history rather than in anyone's ranking.

Starry ore especially should never be spread thin. It's the scarcest of the three and it's the one you will regret wasting.

The challenge contract, and whether to chase it

The contract unlocks the month's special challenge, and the drop chance is roughly one in ten chests.

That's low enough that chasing it directly is a bad plan. You cannot force a one in ten.

What you can do is open more chests, which is the same advice as everything else in this event. Volume solves it or it doesn't.

If you get one, run the challenge. It's a fixed puzzle rather than a random base, so it rewards planning, and the reward is worth the twenty minutes it takes to work out.

Magic snacks are better than they look

Snacks get ignored because they're not permanent.

They shouldn't be. A snack that boosts a troop for a stretch of attacks is exactly what you want during an event month, because event months are when you attack most.

Use them during the event rather than saving them for a war you might not be in. A saved snack is a snack that expires with the season.

That's a general rule for temporary rewards. If it has a clock on it, the clock is part of the cost.

What most players waste the month on

The biggest waste is treating the season like a shop.

People check the reward track, decide it's not worth it, and stop attacking. Then the month ends and they have nothing.

The second biggest waste is farming dead bases for loot they don't need while ignoring the event prompts entirely.

The third is hoarding. Ore in the bank does nothing. Snacks in the bank expire. Contracts unused are just pixels. Spend what the event gives you inside the event.

How this fits with the rest of the update

The same patch added supercharge levels to the monolith and to every builder hut, and both want dark elixir.

Event rewards don't compete with that, which is the good news. Ore and dark elixir are separate pools, so you can push equipment and defense in the same week without choosing.

What does compete is your time. Attacking for chests and farming for dark elixir are the same attacks, so aim them well.

Attack bases with full dark elixir storages and you'll do both jobs at once.

A simple plan for the event window

Here's a plan that fits a normal schedule.

Attack twice a day minimum, aiming at dark elixir. Take the event prompt every time it appears. Open chests as they arrive rather than stockpiling them.

Spend shiny ore immediately on the equipment in your current loadout. Hold starry ore for one specific target you've already decided on.

Run the challenge if a contract drops. If one doesn't, don't feel like you missed the month. The ore was always the point.

Practicing the new troops while you farm

The season also hands you temporary troops, and the event window is the best time to learn them.

Event attacks are low stakes. You're farming loot you'd farm anyway, so a failed experiment costs almost nothing.

How to read a drop table without fooling yourself

Drop rates get posted and then get misread, every single event.

A one in ten chance does not mean you get one in ten chests. It means each chest rolls independently, and ten chests can hand you nothing at all.

That matters because players plan around an average they will not experience. Half of everyone opening ten chests ends the month empty on that slot.

So plan for the guaranteed part of the table, which is the ore. Treat everything with a percentage attached as weather rather than as income.

What to do on the final day

Events end quietly and take unspent things with them.

On the last day, open every chest you're holding. Spend every snack. Check whether any reward track tier is one attack away from completing, because a single attack is cheap and a lost tier isn't.

Then check your ore. If you're sitting on shiny ore with nowhere obvious to put it, put it somewhere anyway. It carries over, but the habit of spending it doesn't.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best reward in the equipment event?

Epic equipment you don't already own. It's the only thing in the drop table you cannot easily get another way, and the chest specifically excludes epics you already have. Everything else, mainly ore and snacks, arrives eventually through normal play.

How do I open more season chests?

By attacking. The season feeds chests through participation, including the in battle prompts, the mid month equipment event and the clan side of the season. Consistency matters far more than skill, since a bad attack still counts towards the event.

What are the odds of getting a challenge contract?

Roughly one in ten chests. That's too low to chase deliberately. Open chests as you earn them and treat a contract as a bonus rather than as the goal for the month.

Which ore should I spend first?

Shiny ore, immediately, on the equipment already in your loadout. Hold starry ore for one specific target you've decided on in advance, because it's the scarcest of the three and the easiest to waste by spreading it thin. If you're weighing that against a defense upgrade the same week, our medal event buying guide uses the same test for spending a limited currency.

Should I save magic snacks for war?

No. Snacks expire with the season, so a saved snack is usually a wasted one. Use them during the event month, which is also when you attack most. Anything with a clock on it should be spent inside that clock.
