About COC Tournaments on Base Drop
We started hosting Clash of Clans tournaments because we couldn't find a good Indian competitive scene β most tournaments were either disorganized Discord events or required expensive entry fees with no real accountability. So we built our own. Base Drop tournaments are structured, prize-backed, and run with actual brackets so you know who you're facing and when.
Right now we're running events in three formats β 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 β with prize pools paid out in Indian Rupees. We're not trying to compete with Supercell's official events. This is grassroots COC competition for players who just want to test themselves against real opponents and maybe earn a bit of cash doing it.
All prize money is distributed within 72 hours of tournament completion. We've completed multiple tournaments so far and haven't had a single payment dispute β that matters to us. If you want to verify, check the completed tournaments above and the registered participant counts.
How to Register for a Base Drop Tournament
Registration is pretty simple. Here's the exact process:
- 1
Pick an upcoming tournament
Find a tournament above with "Upcoming" status that matches your format preference β 1v1 if you're a solo player, 2v2 or 3v3 if you have teammates ready.
- 2
Click "Register" and fill in your details
You'll need your in-game name, player tag (found in COC settings), and a contact email or phone number for prize distribution. For team formats, collect everyone's player tags before registering.
- 3
Pay the entry fee (if applicable)
Some tournaments are free entry, others have a small fee that goes toward the prize pool. Free-entry tournaments typically have smaller prize pools funded by Base Drop. Paid-entry events have larger pools because participants contribute directly.
- 4
Wait for bracket announcement
Brackets are announced 24 hours before the start time. You'll receive your match schedule by email. Show up 15 minutes early β we don't wait for late participants after a 10-minute grace period.
- 5
Play your matches and report results
After each match, both players/teams screenshot the result and submit it through the tournament page. Our admin team verifies and advances the bracket within 30 minutes.
Tournament Formats Explained
We currently run three formats. Each one tests different skills β solo formats are all about your individual attack strategy, while team formats bring clan coordination into the picture.
1v1 Format
Pure solo competition. You and one opponent each defend and attack once per round. Whoever gets more stars wins the round β tie goes to destruction percentage. This format is brutal because there's nobody to blame but yourself. It's probably the best test of individual skill in COC. We recommend it for players who've been playing for 2+ years and feel confident with at least 2-3 army compositions at their TH level.
2v2 Format
Two players per team. Each player attacks one base, so you need to coordinate who takes which target. The strategy layer here is interesting β you're deciding whether your stronger attacker takes the harder base or the easier one to guarantee stars. We've seen teams lose 2v2s because they didn't communicate attack assignments. Don't be that team.
3v3 Format
Three players per team, three attacks per side. This is the closest thing to a mini Clan War League format we run. You'll have a proper strategy call, base assignments, and backup attack decisions. It's the most fun format in our opinion β wins feel earned because they required actual teamwork. We run 3v3s less frequently than other formats because scheduling three players is harder, but they tend to get the most registrations.
All formats use single-elimination brackets unless we have enough participants for double elimination. We'll note the bracket type on each tournament card.
Prize Pool and Entry Fees
All prize pools are listed in Indian Rupees (Rs.) and paid out via UPI. Here's how the structure typically works:
| Position | Prize Share | Example (Rs. 500 pool) |
|---|---|---|
| 1st Place | 60% | Rs. 300 |
| 2nd Place | 30% | Rs. 150 |
| 3rd Place | 10% | Rs. 50 |
For free-entry events, Base Drop funds the prize pool entirely. For paid-entry events, 90% of collected entry fees go into the prize pool and 10% covers operational costs. We don't profit from tournaments β that's intentional. The goal is to build a competitive COC community, not make money off players.
Prize payouts happen within 72 hours of the final match. You'll receive a UPI payment request to the number you registered with. If you haven't received payment after 72 hours, contact us through the contact page.
Eligibility and Rules
We keep the rules simple so there's less to argue about:
- Age: 13 and older. We don't verify age aggressively but if you register with a parent's UPI and they dispute the prize, that's on you.
- Account: Your own account only β no account sharing or hired attackers. We can't always verify this but if you're caught, you're disqualified and banned from future events.
- Town Hall: Each tournament specifies a TH range. Don't register for a TH13-TH15 tournament with a TH17 account β it's not fair and you'll be removed.
- Conduct: No trash talking, no slurs, no harassment. Competitive banter is fine. Personal attacks aren't. First offense gets a warning, second gets a ban.
- Disputes: Screenshot every attack. If you claim a result was reported incorrectly, you need video or screenshot evidence. Admin decisions on disputes are final.
- Modded clients: Don't. Using modified Clash of Clans clients is grounds for permanent ban. We can't detect all mods but the COC community is small enough that word gets around.
Why We Think Competitive COC Matters
Clash of Clans has been around since 2012, and yet there's never really been a mature competitive scene outside Supercell's Esports invitationals β which most casual-to-mid-tier players have zero chance of qualifying for. That leaves a huge gap for players who've been maxing their bases and winning CWL for years but have nowhere to actually test themselves against strangers with stakes on the line.
The Base Drop tournaments fill that gap. They're not prestigious, the prize pools aren't going to change anyone's life, and we're not pretending otherwise. But they're structured, they're accountable, and they're the most reliable way for an Indian TH15+ player to get a real competitive match against someone outside their own clan. If you've ever thought βI wonder if I'm actually good, or just good relative to my clanβ β these tournaments answer that question in two hours.
If you're interested in the base layouts and strategies players use in our tournaments, check out our base library and the strategy blog β a lot of the top finishers pull layouts from there.
Tournament FAQ
Questions we get asked every time we announce a new event.
Can I join if I'm not from India?
Right now our tournaments are primarily for Indian players because prize payouts are via UPI. We're working on adding international payment options but it's not ready yet. If you're international and want to participate for the competition (no prize needed), reach out through the contact page and we'll add you on a case-by-case basis.
What happens if my opponent doesn't show up?
You wait 10 minutes past the scheduled match time. If they're still absent, take a screenshot of the chat/time and submit it. You'll advance by default. We take no-shows seriously β players who no-show without notice are banned from the next tournament automatically.
Is there a minimum Town Hall requirement?
Each tournament card lists the eligible TH range. We don't run tournaments below TH10 because the base variety isn't rich enough for competitive play at lower levels. Most of our events are TH13-TH16 since that's where the majority of our player base sits.
How often are new tournaments announced?
We aim to run at least one tournament per month. Frequency depends on registration numbers from the previous event β if turnout is high, we run more often. Follow our updates through the blog or check this page regularly. We don't have a mailing list yet but it's on the roadmap.
Can I suggest a tournament format or TH range?
Yes, and we genuinely want feedback here. The 2v2 format was added because multiple players requested it after our first 1v1 tournament. Send suggestions through the contact page with the subject "Tournament Suggestion". If enough players want the same format, we'll run it.
I've never competed before. Is it worth entering?
Honestly, yes. Your first tournament is going to feel nerve-wracking even though it's just a mobile game β competition does that. But you'll learn more about your attack weaknesses in one tournament match than in weeks of regular play. The players who join Base Drop tournaments tend to be knowledgeable and respectful. It's not a toxic environment. If you want to get better at COC, competing is one of the fastest ways to do it. And you don't need a ton of bases memorized β just browse our collection and find ones that suit your style before you register.
