TH17 War Base Layouts and Where They Leak 2026

Five Town Hall 17 war layouts with copy links, each with its weakness written first. Pick the leak you can live with, not the one nobody warned you about.

Quick Answer

Quick answer: Five Town Hall 17 war layouts with copy links. Every one has its weakness written before its strength, because at this level every base has one and the useful question is which leak you can live with. If you want the least bad all round option, it's the last one on this page.

Why Every TH17 Base Leaks Somewhere

At TH17 the attackers are good. That's the honest starting point.

Players who reach this level have maxed heroes, full equipment sets and a lot of practice. They scout properly, they build a funnel on purpose, and they don't waste an attack learning your base.

So the goal shifts. You aren't trying to build something nobody can three star. You're trying to build something that costs a great attacker a perfect attack, and costs an average one the whole thing.

That means picking your weakness deliberately. A base that's soft against air but brutal against ground is a good base if your war is full of ground players. The same base in an air heavy war is a free triple.

So each layout below leads with what it gives away. Read that first.

What I Compared Before Shortlisting

I pulled the whole TH17 shelf of our library and cut it down on four questions.

Can all four air defenses be reached from a single side? If yes, out.

Does the Town Hall sit deep enough that the Giga Inferno covers the compartments attackers must cross?

Are both Monoliths and both Spell Towers positioned against packs rather than single targets?

And has this copy link ever appeared on our blog? I checked every one against the links we've published before, and all five here are new.

Leaks to Air, Brutal on Ground

The weakness first. The air defenses on this one sit closer together than I'd normally allow, so a committed Balloon or Electro Dragon army has a workable lane.

What you get for that is the hardest ground base of the five. Small compartments everywhere, both Monoliths covering the widest approaches, and a Town Hall that a ground army has to break four walls to reach.

Root Riders and Yeti smashes struggle badly here.

Run it when you know your opponents favour ground. Don't run it blind.

Leaks Percentage, Denies the Triple

The weakness is destruction. Outer buildings are spread wide and they fall quickly, so this base often sits at sixty percent while it's still holding.

What you get is the clock. A three star means reaching every corner of the map, and most TH17 armies run out of time before they run out of troops.

I counted this as the strongest three star denial shape on the shelf.

Run it when stars decide the war. Avoid it when your clan is comparing destruction averages, because it'll make you look careless when you aren't.

Leaks to a Perfect Queen Charge

The weakness is a Queen Charge that goes exactly right. The entry corner here is a little softer than the rest, and a Queen with a good funnel gets deep before the Monoliths hurt her.

What you get is everything else. Against spam of any kind this is the tightest layout on the page, and against a Queen Charge that starts from the wrong side she walks into both Monoliths at once.

Run it against players who spam. Against a top tier attacker who scouts properly, expect to lose the corner.

Leaks the First Star, Holds the Core

The weakness is obvious and deliberate. The Town Hall isn't the hardest thing to reach here, so one star goes early more often than you'd like.

What you get is a core that holds. The Eagle Artillery, both Infernos and both Monoliths sit inside a second wall line that a ground army has to break separately, after it's already spent its Jump Spells reaching the Town Hall.

Attackers take the first star, then stall.

Run it in Clan War League, where denying the third star across a week matters more than any single perfect defence.

Leaks Nothing Badly, Wins Nothing Outright

The weakness is that it isn't the best answer to anything on this page.

What you get is no sharp edge. Air defenses properly spread, Town Hall deep with the Giga Inferno covering the natural approaches, Monoliths on both wide sides, compartments small enough to cost wall breakers everywhere.

I picked this as the default because nobody gets a repeatable answer against it. They have to attack it well every time.

Run it when you don't know what's coming, which at TH17 is most of the time.

Loading a Copy Link Without Breaking Your Village

Open the link on the device that has Clash of Clans installed. The game launches and shows the layout with a load button.

Choose a war base slot. Not the home village and not the builder base. A war layout at home parks your storages on the outside as filler and you'll lose a night of loot to it.

If a browser page opens instead of the game, it isn't installed on that device. Nothing's broken.

The link moves buildings and wall positions. It won't move your traps, it can't raise wall levels you haven't unlocked, and wherever you haven't built a defense the layout expects, you'll simply have a gap.

The Part the Layout Can't Do

Three things decide TH17 defence more than the arrangement of your walls.

Your Clan Castle troops. Something with hit points that survives a poison spell and holds a pack for five seconds is worth more than any change on this page. Ask for that, not for damage.

Your traps. A copied layout gives you building positions and nothing else. Giant Bombs on the Hog lane, Seeking Air Mines behind the air defenses rather than in front, and a Tornado Trap holding a pack inside Spell Tower range.

Your defence levels. A tight shape with under levelled walls loses to a plain shape with maxed ones, every time.

If you're weighing an upgrade path, the TH17 versus TH18 rush guide covers what you give up by moving early.

Reading Your Replays Properly

Watch only the first thirty seconds of each defence replay. That's where the funnel forms, and the funnel decides everything afterwards.

You aren't looking for where the base died. You're looking for the corner two different attackers both chose to open.

That corner is your actual weakness. It's usually not the one you assumed.

Move one Wizard Tower and one Air Defense towards it and change nothing else. Then leave the base alone for two more wars, because one attack tells you about one attacker and nothing about your layout.

Our older single TH17 war base breakdown goes tile by tile on one layout if you want that level of detail.

Choosing the Leak You Can Live With

Ground heavy war: the first layout, and accept the air risk.

Stars decide it: the percentage leaker.

Opponents who spam rather than scout: the Queen Charge leaker.

Clan War League week: the one that gives up the first star and holds the core.

No information at all: the balanced one.

Every layout here came out of our base library, filterable by town hall level and base type. Supercell's September update notes list the hero equipment changes, and at this level those decide which attacks you'll face far more than any defense change does.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a TH17 war base that cannot be three starred?

No, and anybody claiming otherwise is selling something. Players at this level have maxed heroes, full equipment and real practice. A good TH17 base makes a three star expensive enough that only a perfect attack earns it, which across a full war is usually the difference between winning and losing.

How deep should the Town Hall sit at TH17?

Deep enough that the Giga Inferno arc covers the compartments an attacker has to cross, and behind at least two wall lines. The Town Hall burns attackers while it falls, so it works as a trap rather than a prize. Placed near an edge, most of that damage lands on empty ground.

Where do the two Monoliths go?

On the two widest approaches, one ring out from the core rather than beside the Town Hall. The Monolith does heavy single target damage, which is what the high health troops at this level are weak to. Buried in the middle it only starts firing after the attack has already worked.

Should I use the same base in war and Clan War League?

Not usually. In league your base sits up for a full week, so a layout with one sharp weakness gets attacked the same way seven times. Use the balanced layout or the core holder for league, and save the specialists for regular war where you face a single attacker.

Do these links work for other town hall levels?

No. Each layout is built around the exact buildings a level has. Loaded at a lower level you would have buildings with nowhere to go, and at a higher one your new defenses would have no space reserved. Filter by your own level in our base library.
