Best Pet for Grand Warden 2026: Sneezy, Unicorn or Owl?

The best pet for the Grand Warden in 2026: Sneezy at TH17+, Unicorn for Fireball walks, Electro Owl before TH17, and the ground swaps players use.

Which Pet Is Best on the Grand Warden?

Quick answer: Sneezy is the best Grand Warden pet at Town Hall 17 and up for most attacks, and it shines in air and Healer walks. Pick the Unicorn for Fireball or ground walks if you can protect it from splash. Before Town Hall 17, use the Electro Owl. On ground armies, Poison Lizard or Diggy also work.

That's the short version as of October 2026. I read four sets of Supercell patch notes that mention Sneezy. Then I checked five Reddit threads and one long pet guide where players argue about this exact pick.

The answer shifts with your Town Hall and your army. So the table below splits it out. If you want a base to practice on first, browse war bases by Town Hall and pick one with a tight core.

Grand Warden Pet Picks by Town Hall and Army

Here's the whole answer in one place. Each pick comes from the patch notes and player threads covered further down.

Two rows are close calls. Fireball walks split players between Sneezy and the Unicorn. Ground armies split them between Sneezy and the Lizard. The sections below show both sides.

What Does Sneezy Actually Do?

Supercell added Sneezy in the Clash Anytime update notes on 24 March 2025. Here's the official line: "This allergy-prone bat sneezes out ghastly Boogers that soak up damage and attack Buildings. When her Hero is defeated, Sneezy gets in on the action herself by attacking defenses!"

She unlocks at Pet House level 11. That needs Town Hall 17.

The Warden is a support hero. His own hits are light. His value is the aura and the ability he gives the troops around him. So the pet that helps him most isn't the one with the biggest damage. It's the one that keeps him and his army standing longer.

That's what the boogers do. Each shot a booger absorbs is a shot that doesn't land on the Warden or a Healer. And if the Warden falls early, Sneezy turns on the defenses herself.

Two Patch Changes Every Sneezy User Should Know

The first came in the Get Ready for Ranked update on 6 October 2025. The note reads: "Grand Warden is less likely to follow Sneezy's Boogers."

That matters more than it sounds. The Warden follows your troops around the battle. Before this patch, he could trail the boogers instead and drag his aura away from the main army. Supercell's wording is "less likely", not never. So it can still happen on odd layouts.

The second came in the January Balance Changes on 12 January 2026: "Sneezy, Boogers no longer trigger traps." Before that, boogers could set off traps ahead of your army. Now your own troops find those traps the old way.

Neither change pushed players off Sneezy. The threads I read from after January still put her first on the Warden for most armies.

Will Sneezy Get Nerfed?

Maybe, but not yet. In the July Balance Update on 9 July 2026, Supercell wrote: "Sneezy was also a close call, but with Dragon armies already taking multiple hits and a new Crafting Season about to begin, we want to see where things settle first."

So the team looked at a Sneezy change and held off. That's worth knowing before you pour upgrade resources into her. If a later balance update cuts the boogers, the Unicorn and Electro Owl rows in the table get stronger.

Check the date on any Warden pet advice you read. A thread from before a balance update can point you the wrong way.

Why Players Rank Sneezy First on the Warden

I compared the replies in a January 2026 thread titled "You use Sneezy or unicorn for warden Walk?" on r/ClashOfClans. Most replies backed Sneezy. One player put it simply: "Sneezy is the goat."

The reasons players gave fall into three groups:

  1. 1Splash damage gets shared. One player said Sneezy "splits damage on multi archer tower for a few seconds and can distract guardians/defenses over the course of the battle."
  2. 2Walks finish on time. A Legend League player wrote, "For legends i need sneezy or i will time fail." A time fail means the clock runs out before the base falls.
  3. 3She keeps working after the Warden dies. That part comes straight from Supercell's description.

A December 2025 thread landed in the same place. One reply there said, "I think Sneezy is the best all-rounder pet for the Warden." And a July 2026 pet guide called her a "direct upgrade to the Electro Owl".

When Is the Unicorn the Better Pick?

The Unicorn heals its hero over time. On a long walk, that steady healing adds up.

The player who started the January thread said, "Especially for FB players i recommend the uni." FB means Fireball, the Warden's equipment for big hits on the core. The July pet guide also calls the Unicorn a staple on the Warden in Fireball attacks.

The catch is splash. The player who called Sneezy the goat added that the Unicorn "tends to die easily to splash". Others in the thread named the killers: the Multi-Archer Tower, the Ricochet Cannon and the Scattershot. One player said their Unicorn "ends up dying within 30 seconds of the attack most of the time."

There's a spell cost too. Another reply warned that a Unicorn on the Warden "means more spell usage than sneezy during the warden walk."

So the Unicorn suits a walk you've planned around. Take out the splash defenses on the Warden's path early, and the healing pays off. If you're new to Fireball timing, read our Grand Warden Fireball guide before you pick.

If you can only level one, level Sneezy. She covers more of the armies in the first table.

Before Town Hall 17: Keep the Electro Owl

Sneezy isn't an option until Town Hall 17. Until then, the Electro Owl is the pet players name for the Warden. It unlocks at Town Hall 14 with Pet House level 2. Its attack is chain lightning that bounces between targets.

A January 2026 thread came from a Town Hall 15 player who ran the Owl on the Warden. The best reply was about upgrade order: "At TH15 Frosty and Phoenix are the best to get max first." The same player put the Electro Owl third and the Unicorn fourth.

The July pet guide fits that plan. Its Town Hall 15 list puts the Phoenix first and names the King, Royal Champion, Minion Prince or Duke as its best hosts. It pairs Frosty with the Queen or King. So both early upgrades go to other heroes, and the Owl can stay on the Warden.

Its Town Hall 16 picks are the Spirit Fox and the Angry Jelly. The guide ties them to Royal Champion charges and the Dragon Duke. Neither one is a Warden pet.

Ground Armies: When to Swap Off Sneezy

Not every player keeps Sneezy on a ground Warden. A May 2026 thread asked about Sneezy with air armies. One reply said: "I don't think there is another pet that works better with warden than sneezy with air strategies, but on ground you should swap to poison lizard or diggy."

Others disagree when Healers come along. A December 2025 reply said Sneezy "also works really well here if you are using the healer." The boogers soak hits that would land on the Healers, and that keeps the whole push alive.

Here's how I'd read the split:

  1. 1Ground with Healers: keep Sneezy.
  2. 2Ground with Throwers and no Healers: try the Poison Lizard.
  3. 3Dragon attacks with a flying Warden: one player named Diggy as an option, next to Sneezy and the Owl.

Sneezy With a Dragon Duke in the Same Army

If your army also brings the Dragon Duke, a fair question comes up. Does Sneezy get in his way?

A September 2026 thread asked exactly that. One player wrote that "sneezy tanking for healers is worth more than dukes passive". Another said, "unless you are using bowlers bring sneezy", because "normally Duke won't be in the main push with the throwers."

A third player admitted, "Sometimes the boogers disrupt his rage." That player thought the Poison Lizard would be good on the Warden for Thrower armies, mainly in Legend League.

The May thread had a harsher take. One player said Sneezy "honestly does nothing these days" in Hydra air attacks. Their reason: the boogers get in the Duke's way after his revive.

So it depends on where the Duke goes. If he flies with the main push, watch the boogers around him. If he works a different side, players say bring Sneezy. For the Duke's own pet, see our best pet for the Dragon Duke guide.

Is the Greedy Raven Worth It on the Warden?

The Greedy Raven shows up in the July pet guide as a Town Hall 18 option. The guide says it can speed up Warden walks through storages. It also says the Raven is "generally outclassed by Sneezy".

That makes it a niche pick. Try it on a walk where storages sit right on the Warden's path. For most war attacks, Sneezy is still the better use of the slot.

A Quick Way to Choose

Run through these in order. Stop at the first yes.

  1. 1Are you below Town Hall 17? Use the Electro Owl.
  2. 2Is it a planned Fireball walk with splash cleared early? Use the Unicorn.
  3. 3Is the Warden flying, or are Healers in the army? Use Sneezy.
  4. 4Is it a ground army with Throwers? Try the Poison Lizard, or Diggy.
  5. 5None of the above? Default to Sneezy.

Then match the gear. Our Grand Warden equipment guide covers his best equipment for 2026. The pet and the equipment work as a pair, so don't swap one without checking the other.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best pet for the Grand Warden at TH17?

Sneezy is the pick most players name at Town Hall 17 and up. Her boogers soak damage and attack buildings, which protects the Warden and the troops around him. She unlocks at Pet House level 11. Switch to the Unicorn only for a planned Fireball walk.

Is Sneezy or Unicorn better for a Warden walk?

Sneezy fits more walks. Players say the Unicorn dies fast to splash defenses like the Multi-Archer Tower, Ricochet Cannon and Scattershot. The Unicorn's healing pays off when you take those defenses out early, as in many Fireball walks. If you're unsure, start with Sneezy.

What pet should the Grand Warden use at TH15?

Use the Electro Owl, since Sneezy needs Town Hall 17. Players advise you to max Frosty and Phoenix first at Town Hall 15. The pet guide pairs those two with other heroes, so the Owl can stay on the Warden. The Unicorn is the other option if you want healing.

Does the Grand Warden still follow Sneezy's boogers?

Less often than before. Supercell's October 2025 Ranked update says the "Grand Warden is less likely to follow Sneezy's Boogers." Less likely isn't never, so it can still happen. Watch his path on bases where the boogers spread out.

Which pets work best on the other heroes?

It depends on the hero and the army. Our pet tier list for every hero covers the other heroes. In the July pet guide, the Angry Jelly is the Town Hall 16 pick for the Dragon Duke. Check the patch date on any tier list, since balance updates move pets up and down.
