Fire Heart Nerf October 2026: Is It Still Worth Maxing?
Fire Heart loses its damage bonus, about 8% of its HP and some healing. Here's what's left at each level and whether to keep spending ore on it.

The Short Answer
Quick answer: Keep it if it's already high level, but stop treating it as the automatic pick. Supercell's October 2026 nerf removes Fire Heart's damage bonus, cuts its bonus HP by around 8% at every level, and drops max healing from 150 to 140 per second. It's now a pure survival piece for the Dragon Duke.
Supercell announced the nerf on 17 October 2026 as part of its October balance changes.
I pulled the Fire Heart table from the fan wiki, which already lists the new values, and checked it against Supercell's post.
Everything here is as of October 2026.
What Fire Heart Does Today
Fire Heart is Common equipment for the Dragon Duke. He starts with it, along with the Flame Blower.
It gives him four things right now.
- 1Self healing every second.
- 2Bonus hitpoints.
- 3A small damage per second boost.
- 4A fire explosion the first time he falls.
The explosion only fires once per attack. If he's revived later, his next defeat doesn't explode again.
That mix made it a strong all rounder. Most equipment does one job. Fire Heart did three at once, and that's exactly what the nerf goes after.
The Three Changes in the Nerf
Supercell's post lists three changes to Fire Heart.
- 1Bonus HP drops by around 8% at every level.
- 2The damage bonus is gone completely.
- 3Healing drops at higher levels. At max level it goes from 150 to 140 per second.
The post doesn't list the new HP number for each level. It only gives the 8% figure. The fan wiki already lists the exact values, and the table below uses them.
The post doesn't mention the death explosion at all. So the explosion should stay as it is.
You can read the original Supercell post for the exact wording.
Bonus HP Before and After
Here's the bonus HP at a few key levels, with the new values the fan wiki lists for the change.
| Level | Bonus HP before | Bonus HP after |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 900 | 830 |
| 6 | 2,300 | 2,100 |
| 9 | 3,150 | 2,900 |
| 12 | 4,000 | 3,700 |
| 15 | 4,800 | 4,400 |
| 18 | 5,600 | 5,150 |
I checked every level against Supercell's figure. The cuts run from 6.9% at level 3 to 8.8% at level 8, so around 8% holds.
At max level, Duke loses 450 bonus HP. That's a small slice of his total HP, but it adds up over a long push.
How Much of Duke's HP Comes From Fire Heart?
A lot. The fan wiki lists Dragon Duke at 10,900 HP at level 25.
I compared that with Fire Heart's bonus at level 18. Today the equipment adds 5,600 HP, which is about half of his base HP on top.
After the nerf, the bonus drops to 5,150. That's still close to half his base HP.
So the HP cut is real, but it's small next to what's left. Fire Heart still turns a level 25 Duke into a hero with just over 16,000 HP.
That's the main reason not to panic. The biggest part of the equipment survives the nerf.
Losing the Damage Bonus
This part hurts more than the HP. At level 18, Fire Heart adds 23 damage per second today. After the change it adds nothing.
For scale, the wiki lists Duke's own damage at 400 per second at level 25. So the lost bonus is around 6% of his base damage.
It also isn't the first cut. On 26 May 2026, Supercell already lowered Fire Heart's damage at levels 2 to 18. This time it removes the rest.
That changes what the slot is for. Fire Heart used to cover healing, HP and some damage. Now any damage has to come from his other piece.
Two Healing Cuts in Five Months
Healing took a hit twice this year.
The May 2026 change lowered level 18 healing from 175 to 150 per second. October takes it from 150 to 140.
The fan wiki lists the October cut at levels 12 to 18. Levels 12 to 14 drop from 130 to 120, and levels 15 to 17 from 140 to 130. Levels below 12 keep their healing.
| Date | Max level healing per second |
|---|---|
| Before 26 May 2026 | 175 |
| After 26 May 2026 | 150 |
| After the October 2026 change | 140 |
That's 35 points gone from max level, or 20% less healing than before May.
The October cut is small by itself. Ten points per second won't decide most fights. But together with the HP cut, a maxed Fire Heart keeps Duke alive for a shorter time than it did in spring.
Why Supercell Nerfed It
Usage was the problem. Supercell says Fire Heart shows up in almost 40% of all attacks. It appears in more than half of all Dragon Duke attacks.
The results were also too good:
- 1Duke attacks with Fire Heart three starred about 66% of the time.
- 2Duke attacks without it landed about 56%.
- 3The average for every attack was 53%.
Those rates come from TH18 attacks on TH18 bases in Clan Wars and CWL, over the four weeks before the post.
Supercell's stated goal is to make Duke's other equipment just as competitive. It didn't say it wants fewer Duke attacks.
What the Death Explosion Still Does
The explosion is the part nobody talks about, and it isn't in the nerf list.
When Duke falls for the first time, Fire Heart bursts into flames around him. The wiki lists that blast at 1,000 damage at level 1 and 3,000 at level 18. It hits everything within 4 tiles.
That's useful when he dies deep in a base. The blast can finish off nearby defenses he already damaged.
It only fires once per attack, though. And you can't plan an attack around your hero dying.
So the explosion is a bonus, not a reason to keep the equipment by itself.
Should You Keep Upgrading It?
It depends on where your Fire Heart sits now. I counted the ore in the wiki's table for the full climb to level 18.
| Ore | Level 1 to 18 |
|---|---|
| Shiny Ore | 27,260 |
| Glowy Ore | 1,920 |
It's Common equipment, so it needs no Starry Ore. Levels 16 to 18 also need a level 7 Blacksmith.
Here's a simple rule.
- 1Level 15 or higher: finish it. You're close, and it's cheap compared with Epic gear.
- 2Below level 9: hold your ore until you've tested his other pieces.
- 3Between the two: keep it where it is for a few wars and watch the results.
Which Equipment Could Replace It?
Duke can use six pieces right now, according to the wiki.
- 1Fire Heart.
- 2Flame Blower.
- 3Stun Blaster.
- 4Electro Fangs.
- 5Rocket Backpack.
- 6Revenge Deck.
He takes two into each attack. The nerf mostly changes what goes next to Flame Blower or Stun Blaster.
If you want a damage piece now, Fire Heart no longer gives you any. Our Dragon Duke equipment guide explains what each one does in an attack.
We also covered whether the Revenge Deck is worth maxing, which is one of the main options people will look at.
Test the Swap Before You Commit
Don't move your ore on a hunch. A friendly challenge costs nothing.
Run the same base twice. Use Fire Heart once and another piece the second time. Watch two things in each replay.
- 1How far into the core Duke gets before he falls.
- 2How much damage he does before the end.
If he dies at the same spot in both runs, the other piece is probably worth it. If he dies much earlier without Fire Heart, keep it.
If you need a fair test layout, browse TH18 war bases and pick one with a strong core. Then use it for every run.
What We Still Don't Know
Some things are still open.
Supercell's post gave only the 8% figure and the max level healing. The level by level values on this page come from the fan wiki. Check them in game once the update is live.
Nobody has war results with the new numbers yet. Supercell's usage rates come from the four weeks before the change.
And Supercell says it'll keep watching attack results. If Fire Heart stays far ahead of Duke's other pieces, another tweak is possible. If it falls behind, a small rollback is possible too.
So give the nerfed Fire Heart a few wars before you judge it.
Frequently Asked Questions
What did the October 2026 Fire Heart nerf change?
Three things. Its bonus HP dropped by around 8% at every level, its damage bonus was removed, and max level healing went from 150 to 140 per second. Supercell didn't mention the death explosion, so that part stays.
Is Fire Heart still good after the nerf?
Yes, as a survival piece. At max level it still adds 5,150 HP and 140 healing per second to the Dragon Duke. It just doesn't add damage anymore, so pair it with a piece that does.
How much HP does Fire Heart give at max level?
After the October 2026 nerf, the fan wiki lists 5,150 bonus HP at level 18, down from 5,600. Supercell's post gave the cut as around 8%, which matches that drop.
Was Fire Heart nerfed before October 2026?
Yes. On 26 May 2026 Supercell lowered its healing at levels 15 to 18 and its damage at levels 2 to 18. Our Dragon Duke May 2026 nerf breakdown covers the other changes from that update.
Why did Supercell nerf Fire Heart?
It appeared in almost 40% of TH18 war attacks and in more than half of all Dragon Duke attacks. Duke attacks with it three starred about 66% of the time, against about 56% without it. Supercell wants his other equipment to compete.
