Clan Games September 2026: Which Challenges First

Clan Games run 22 to 28 September 2026. I counted the point values and worked out which challenges reach 4,000 fastest without wasting your armies.

The Short Version Before You Open the Book

Quick answer: Clan Games run from 22 to 28 September 2026. Your personal reward cap is 4,000 points, so everything past that helps the clan and does nothing for you. Take the highest point challenges your army can finish in one attack, skip anything asking for a troop you do not train, and leave the slow builder base challenges for the last day.

That's the whole thing in a paragraph. The rest of this is how to hit 4,000 without rebuilding your army six times, and which challenges quietly waste an hour.

I checked the dates against two independent calendars before writing them down, because they get reported wrong every month. The names on the board change. The maths doesn't.

How the Points Actually Work

There are two scoreboards and people mix them up constantly.

The first is yours. You personally stop earning rewards at 4,000 points. Once you're there, every further challenge you clear feeds the clan total and gives you nothing extra.

The second is the clan's. Reward tiers unlock on the combined total, and the thresholds are 3,000 for tier one, 7,500 for tier two, 12,000 for tier three, 18,000 for tier four, 30,000 for tier five and 50,000 for tier six. Hit 50,000 as a clan and you pick one reward from every tier.

There's a bonus on top. If the clan clears 50,000 and you personally cleared 4,000, you get one extra pick from any tier. That's the reason to push to 4,000 even in a clan that would get there without you.

The Challenges Worth Taking First

Take anything that pays well for an attack you were going to do anyway.

Destroy X buildings, loot X gold, loot X elixir. These clear while you farm. You aren't spending anything extra, so the points are effectively free.

Next come the troop specific ones that match your current army. If you run Root Riders and there's a Root Rider challenge, that's a gift. Take it immediately.

After that, the war challenges. Two stars in a war attack, three stars in a war attack, destroy a town hall in war. You're attacking in war anyway, so the points come attached to something you were already doing. Just make sure you take the challenge before the attack, not after. Points don't backdate.

The Challenges That Waste Your Week

Anything asking for a troop you do not currently train is a trap. It looks like 1,000 points. It's actually 1,000 points plus a full army retrain plus the walk.

Super troop challenges are the worst of these. Boosting a super troop costs dark elixir or a potion, and the challenge rarely pays enough to cover that.

Clan Capital challenges are slow if your clan does not raid seriously. You're waiting on a weekend window that may not line up with the games.

And hero challenges are a quiet tax. If your hero is down for an upgrade you simply cannot do them, so check the hero hall before you take one.

Builder Base Challenges, and Why They Go Last

Builder base challenges pay reasonably and almost nobody wants to do them. That's the honest read.

They're slow because you only get so many attacks before the loot carts dry up, and the versus battles depend on finding an opponent. On a busy evening they're fine. On day one, when everyone in the clan is racing, they clog your slot.

So leave them. On the last two days, when the good main village challenges have been taken, the builder base list is still sitting there untouched. That's when they're worth your slot.

Clans miss tier six by a few hundred points every month with builder base challenges sitting unclaimed on the board. It is the most common way a clan falls short.

The Slot Rule Nobody Reads

You can only hold one challenge at a time, and dropping one puts it on a cooldown before you can take another.

That cooldown is the real constraint on the whole week. It's not your army and it's not your time. It's how many slots you burn on things you then abandon.

So read the requirement properly before you accept. Check the troop, check the count, check whether it wants war attacks or multiplayer. Thirty seconds of reading saves an hour of waiting.

If you do get stuck with something impossible, drop it early rather than late. The cooldown runs while you stare at the challenge, and it runs while you ignore it.

A Realistic Route to 4,000

Here's the shape that works for most accounts without any special effort.

Day one, take the farming challenges. Gold, elixir, destroy buildings. You'll clear two or three while doing your normal attacks.

Day two and three, take the war challenges as your war attacks come up. These are the highest points per minute in the whole event.

Day four and five, take troop challenges that match whatever army you're already running. Do not change armies to suit a challenge.

Day six and seven, mop up with builder base and anything cheap that's left. By now the greedy players have taken the good ones and the leftovers are yours.

That route reaches 4,000 comfortably and costs you almost no extra training time.

What to Spend the Rewards On

Books are the prize. A Book of Heroes or a Book of Building is worth more than everything else in the tier combined, because it skips an upgrade that would otherwise eat a week.

After books, take runes. A Rune of Dark Elixir is the single best resource item in the game right now, because dark elixir is the resource that never piles up on its own.

Potions are fine but they're consumables. A training potion saves you an evening. A book saves you a week.

Gems only if the tier has nothing else. And if you're mid way through a defensive push, our TH16 upgrade priority guide covers what those books should be pointed at.

Clan Games and Clan War Leagues Overlap

This is the part that catches people out every season.

Clan war leagues and clan games sit close together in the calendar, and both want your attacks. If you're serious about the league, your war attacks belong to the league first.

The good news is the overlap works in your favour. League attacks count for war challenges. So take a war challenge before your league attack and you're paid twice for the same swing.

Just don't start a hero upgrade during either. A hero in the builder's hands is an attack you cannot make, and both events are scored on attacks.

What Changed in the August Update

The August update did not change clan games directly, but it changed two things around it. I read the official notes for this part, because the gold pass change is easy to misread.

The gold pass now starts at Town Hall 3 instead of running as a starter pass to Town Hall 7, so lower town halls in your clan can now contribute with better rewards behind them. If your clan carries new players, tell them.

The update also fixed the hero journey nodes that were failing to unlock. That matters this week because hero journey quests and clan games challenges compete for the same attacks, and a broken node meant wasted effort.

The full list of changes sits on the official Clash of Clans site if you want to read them properly.

If Your Clan Never Reaches Tier Six

Plenty of clans stall around 30,000 and it's almost never about skill.

It's participation. A clan of fifty where twenty people play reaches 30,000. A clan of thirty where everyone plays reaches 50,000 easily.

So the fix is not better challenges. It's a message in clan chat on day one and again on day four. Say the deadline, say the personal cap is 4,000, say what the tier six reward is.

If that still doesn't work, the honest answer is that you're in the wrong clan for this event. A clan that clears tier six every month is worth more than a clan you like the name of.

Mistakes That Cost Points Every Month

Taking a challenge and then going to bed. The clock does not stop and some challenges expire.

Attacking first and taking the challenge after. Those points are gone. Take it first, every time.

Changing your army to suit a challenge. The retrain time costs more than the challenge pays, unless it's one of the very high value war ones.

Ignoring the event until day six. The good challenges are picked over by then, and the slot cooldown means you physically cannot clear enough in two days.

And pushing past 4,000 while your clan is already at 50,000. That's pure waste. Spend that time on a war base instead, and you can browse layouts on CocBaseDrop while the games run.

What to Do Tonight

The games open on 22 September. Tonight is the night to clear your builder queue and finish anything that would lock a hero next week.

Check your army. Whatever you're running on the 22nd is what you should be picking challenges around, so don't plan to change it.

Tell your clan the dates. Most missed tiers are missed because half the clan did not know the event had started.

Then play normally. Clan games reward people who were going to play anyway, and punish people who try to grind it in one sitting. If you want your attacks to land better while you're at it, the clan war league strategy guide covers the attack planning that carries over.

Frequently Asked Questions

When are Clan Games in September 2026?

Clan Games run from 22 September to 28 September 2026. The event opens in the morning on the 22nd and closes on the 28th, so you have seven days. Challenges are taken one at a time from a shared board, and there is a cooldown after you drop one.

How many Clan Games points can one player earn?

Your personal reward cap is 4,000 points. Once you reach 4,000 you have unlocked every tier your clan opens, and further challenges only add to the clan total. If your clan reaches 50,000 and you personally reached 4,000, you also get one extra reward pick from any tier.

What are the Clan Games reward tier thresholds?

Tier one opens at 3,000 clan points, tier two at 7,500, tier three at 12,000, tier four at 18,000, tier five at 30,000 and tier six at 50,000. A clan that reaches 50,000 can pick one reward from every tier, which is why participation matters more than individual skill.

Which Clan Games challenges give the most points fastest?

War challenges pay the most for the least extra effort, because you were going to attack in war anyway. After those, take farming challenges like loot gold or destroy buildings, which clear while you play normally. Avoid anything needing a troop you do not already train.

Should I change my army to complete a Clan Games challenge?

No, in almost every case. The retraining time and the walk cost more than the challenge pays. The exception is a high value war challenge that lines up with an attack you already planned. Pick challenges around your army rather than rebuilding your army around the board.

What are the best Clan Games rewards to pick?

Books first, because a Book of Heroes or Book of Building skips an upgrade that would take a week. Runes next, especially the Rune of Dark Elixir, since dark elixir is the resource that never accumulates on its own. If you are unsure what to spend them on, the live tournament bases show what the top players are defending with this week.
